In establishing this legal and consulting practice, I would like to change the way people think about lawyers and advisors.
I want to do this by being:
-
Flexible.
I work when my clients need me. I love the chance to work closely with your team and people on the front-line, rather than being alone in an office. No job is too small – I can work for a day or on a long-term basis.
-
Collaborative and collegiate.
I know that you may already have relationships with other trusted partners and advisors. I do not see these people as competitors. Rather, I believe that it is only by being willing to listen to the perspectives of a range of people that we can attain the right results.
-
Open and Honest.
I am not scared to ask lots of questions! When you ask me for my opinion, I will tell you what I think. I also know that at times reasonable people disagree. Disagreements are an opportunity for constructive dialogue, rather than obstacles to progress.
-
On your side.
My career mentors have instilled in me a sense that in business – and in life - what matters most is to build strong and lasting relationships. I want to understand your goals and make sure everything I do helps you to reach them.
Above all else, I want to change the way people think about lawyers and consultants.
This means:
- there are no surprises and no looking at the bill at the end of a matter and asking “why did we pay for that?”
- people see the value of including lawyers from the outset in new projects and initiatives at the planning stage (and not seen as a “speed bump” to be negotiated at the end)
- speaking in plain English with no jargon or legalese, using tables, charts and diagrams to explain complex ideas in a simple manner
- providing a user-friendly product that is clear, simple and in a form that does not require it to be explained again or to be re-interpreted before being given to other parts of the organisation
- encouraging a conversation by not being scared to pick up the phone and encouraging clients to do the same
- working in collaboration with others so that where multiple lawyers or other advisors are involved, they work together seamlessly and on time to get things done
- focusing on the solution which may be commercial rather than legal
